Tufting Workshops

RugBurn Studio offers several types of tufting workshops in Kreuzberg, Berlin.


Classes are offered in different levels of technical involvement and size options, for beginners and experienced tufters alike. We work with three types of tufting machines to create a range of heights, depths, and textures. Participants can either arrive with a design or inspiration to work with, or create an experimental design on the spot.


All workshops are taught in English. The studio is centrally located in Kreuzberg, accessible from Kottbusser Tor and Görlitzer Bahnhof.

Foundational Tufting

In this beginner-friendly class you will become familiar with three different types of tufting pile heights to work with, and are free to combine each throughout creating your own rug or wall hanging.

Intensive Tufting

For someone looking for a more involved tufting experience, the intensive workshop provides 8-12 hours of workshop time for creating a larger rug.

About RugBurn

Angela Slider broke into the world of fiber arts self-learning embroidery, eventually working her way up to tapestry weaving. She first started machine tufting in 2019, learning from the inventor of the tufting gun, and continued to experiment with the craft in her Brooklyn studio. She has been offering diverse workshops from her atelier in Berlin since 2023.

We also offer tufting gun repair for non-electrical issues as well as general maintenance. Please send a message describing the issue for a price quote. You must be able to bring in and pick up your gun from the studio.

FAQ

What frame sizes are available?

There are four frame sizes offered: 14x14cm, 40x40cm, 40x80cm, and 80x80cm. The length of your class varies on frame size and complexity of design.

Are the workshops beginner friendly?

Technically all classes are beginner friendly, however we do recommend that beginners start with simpler designs without a lot of details.

Should I prepare anything before the class?

You can either bring in an image or inspiration to work off of, or rugs can be created organically and spontaneously as you experiment with colors and textures.
